Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a structured methodology of advance planning for new or modified product from the early stage of product feasibility study till mass production.
The timeline of product quality planning from customer input, product design, process design and mass production are well structure and well plan. It focuses on the utilization of various techniques to identify and resolve problems before a product goes into full production.
Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) is a process of identifying the customer requirement, to ensure the manufacturing processes have the potential to produce parts that meet the customer’s requirements during actual production. To compile the necessary production data for submission to customer as evidence of capability and compliances.
In 2024, APQP has been refreshed to reflect current industry practices and digital integration needs. The updated version places a stronger emphasis on cross-functional collaboration, risk-based thinking, and real-time data usage in planning and monitoring. It encourages organizations to align APQP more closely with FMEA, Control Plans, and digital quality tools, fostering proactive decision-making.
These enhancements aim to reduce variation, improve traceability, and boost overall efficiency in product development. The updates also highlight the importance of meeting customer-specific requirements and integrating continuous feedback mechanisms, enabling companies to respond more effectively to quality issues and maintain competitive advantage
