This course provides a comprehensive exploration of cost reduction and avoidance strategies tailored to the Malaysian business environment. Participants will begin by understanding the fundamental concepts of cost reduction and cost avoidance, contextualized within Malaysia's business climate. They will examine the challenges faced by Malaysian companies, drawing comparisons with production cost structures in the US and Japan to gain insights into global best practices.
The course then dives into identifying and mitigating various types of losses that affect businesses, including those related to the 4Ms (Man, Machine, Materials, and Process Methods), administrative and management inefficiencies, layout issues, and quality shortcomings.
Strategies for cost control and reduction will be explored in-depth, focusing on practical applications of tools such as Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Lean Production principles, and methods for reducing overhead costs, optimizing headcounts, and managing energy expenditures.
