5S Housekeeping is a structured and systematic approach to workplace organisation and cleanliness aimed at improving efficiency, safety, and quality. Originating from Japan, 5S represents five key principles: Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Set in Order), Seiso (Shine), Seiketsu (Standardize), and Shitsuke (Sustain). These principles focus on eliminating waste, organising work areas, maintaining cleanliness, and developing discipline among employees.
Effective implementation of 5S Housekeeping helps organisations create a safer and more productive working environment by reducing workplace hazards, minimising errors, and improving workflow efficiency. It also enhances employee morale and accountability by promoting ownership of work areas and encouraging teamwork.
This programme provides participants with both theoretical understanding and practical guidance on implementing 5S Housekeeping in their workplaces. Through structured activities and real-life examples, participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to sustain good housekeeping practices and support continuous improvement initiatives.
After attending this 1-day 5S Housekeeping programme, participants will be able to:
Understand the principles and importance of 5S Housekeeping and its role in improving workplace safety, productivity, and efficiency.
Identify and eliminate unnecessary items in the workplace through effective application of the Seiri (Sort) methodology.
Organise work areas systematically using Seiton (Set in Order) and Seiso (Shine) to enhance visibility, cleanliness, and ease of operation.
Develop standardised housekeeping practices through Seiketsu (Standardize) to ensure consistency and sustain good housekeeping habits.
Apply practical techniques to sustain 5S practices, promote employee discipline (Shitsuke), and support continuous improvement within the organisation.
