In-Process Quality Control (IPQC) refers to the systematic monitoring and inspection of products during the production process, rather than waiting until the end. It ensures that each stage of manufacturing meets predefined quality standards, allowing deviations to be identified and corrected immediately. By implementing IPQC, organizations can maintain process stability, reduce variability, and ensure consistent product quality throughout production.
Early Defect Detection focuses on identifying non-conformities as soon as they occur in the production cycle. This proactive approach helps prevent defective products from progressing further along the process, thereby minimizing waste, rework, and production costs. By integrating early detection mechanisms such as real-time inspections and process checks, companies can improve efficiency, enhance customer satisfaction, and strengthen overall quality performance.
At the end of this two-day course, participants will to:
Apply effective IPQC at critical process stages
Detect defects early before escalation
Use data and basic quality tools to control variation
Perform structured root cause analysis
Build sustainable process control systems
Session 1: Quality Fundamentals & IPQC Overview
Session 2: Process Understanding & Risk Identification
Session 3: Types of Defects & Sources of Variation
Session 4: In-Process Quality Control Methods
Session 5: Early Defect Detection Strategies
Session 6: Data Monitoring & SPC Basics
Session 7: Root Cause Analysis & Defect Prevention
Session 8: Building a Robust IPQC System
Session 9: Implementation & Action Planning
This training is suitable for production operators, line leaders, supervisors, and quality control (QC) or quality assurance (QA) personnel who are directly involved in manufacturing and in-process inspections. It is also relevant for process engineers and production planners who are responsible for maintaining process stability, reducing defects, and improving workflow efficiency on the shop floor.
In addition, it is beneficial for managers and executives in manufacturing or operations roles who need a better understanding of quality control practices to support decision-making, improve productivity, and reduce production losses due to defects and rework.
This is a 2-days programme. This course runs from 9:00am – 5:00pm with an hour for lunch and periodic short breaks.
This is an intensive session designed to include as much discussion as possible. Lunch and breaks provide an opportunity for further questioning and discussion with the instructors.
