Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) is a proactive approach aimed at improving equipment reliability and efficiency by involving all employees in maintenance activities. It focuses on preventing equipment breakdowns, defects, and other losses before they occur. TPM integrates maintenance into daily operations and encourages operator involvement, promoting a shared responsibility for machine care.
One of the core concepts of TPM is its "8 Pillars," which include Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance, Quality Maintenance, and more. These pillars work together to enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) by reducing downtime, increasing production speed, and improving product quality. TPM also fosters a culture of continuous improvement, where employees identify and solve issues to optimize performance. Implementing TPM offers numerous benefits, such as higher equipment uptime, reduced maintenance costs, and improved workplace safety. It also enhances employee engagement by empowering operators to take ownership of equipment care.
By the end of the session, participants will:
Understand the fundamental principles of Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) and its impact on operational performance.
Explore and apply the 8 TPM pillars to improve equipment reliability and reduce losses.
Learn practical strategies for implementing, sustaining, and continuously improving TPM in their organizations.
Develop key performance metrics to evaluate TPM effectiveness.
