Cost reduction in procurement goes beyond price negotiation—it focuses on managing the total cost of ownership. By analyzing spending, consolidating purchases, and improving demand planning, organizations can reduce waste and gain better value from suppliers.
Strong supplier relationships also contribute to cost savings. Long-term partnerships can lead to better pricing, consistent quality, and more flexible terms, while exploring alternative sources helps reduce risk and maintain competitiveness. Technology supports cost reduction through better visibility and control. E-procurement systems and data analytics help identify inefficiencies, control spending, and enable smarter purchasing decisions. This 2-day program teaches practical tools and strategies for identifying and implementing cost reduction in procurement. Participants will learn to lower the total cost of ownership (TCO), reduce waste, enhance supplier value, and sustain savings. The program combines analytical techniques, real-life case studies, and workshops for immediate application.
By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:
Understand key principles of cost reduction in procurement.
Identify cost drivers and savings opportunities.
Apply spend analysis and cost breakdown techniques.
Use strategic sourcing and supplier leverage for cost savings.
Implement demand management and specification optimization.
Develop sustainable cost reduction strategies and action plans.
