Competency in crane lifting planning is critical to ensuring the safety and efficiency of lifting operations across construction, industrial, and offshore environments. A competent crane lifting planner must have a deep understanding of load dynamics, lifting categories, ground conditions, and the selection of appropriate lifting equipment based on the nature of the task.
Effective lifting planning involves more than just preparing a lifting plan—it includes thorough risk assessment, verification of rigging gear, accurate load weight estimation, and coordination among site teams. Poor planning or oversight can lead to costly incidents, equipment failure, or even injury, making the role of a competent lifting planner a vital part of any high-risk lifting operation.
A competent crane lifting planner is expected to make informed decisions, conduct site assessments, and ensure compliance with safety regulations such as OSHA, FMA, or BS7121. Their ability to analyze rigging studies, anticipate potential hazards, and implement control measures directly contributes to minimizing risks and promoting a culture of safety at the worksite.
This course aims to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills required to plan, assess, and supervise lifting operations involving cranes safely and efficiently.
Participants will understand relevant legislation, lifting categories, and best practices in developing lifting plans and rigging studies.
The training focuses on risk identification, equipment selection, inspection, and verification processes in accordance with industry standards.
It also provides the tools to perform load calculations and assess critical lifts.
Upon successful completion, participants will be competent to serve as appointed lifting planners or lifting supervisors.
