Firefighting is a critical safety skill that enables individuals to respond effectively during fire emergencies and minimize loss of life, property, and business operations. Understanding basic fire behaviour, common causes of fire, and early response actions allows occupants to act quickly and correctly before a small incident escalates into a major disaster.
Proper knowledge of fire-fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers, hose reels, and alarm systems is essential in controlling fires at the initial stage. Selecting the correct extinguisher for different classes of fire and applying the correct technique can significantly reduce risk and prevent further spread of fire while ensuring personal safety.
Firefighting also involves coordinated emergency response, including evacuation procedures, communication, and teamwork during fire drills. Regular training and drills help build confidence, awareness, and readiness among employees, ensuring that everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in the event of a real fire emergency.
Once completed this course, participants will be able to:
Have a clear understanding of fire behaviour, fire chemistry, and the common causes of fire in the workplace.
To equip participants with knowledge on different classes of fire and the correct selection and safe use of fire-fighting equipment.
Develop practical skills in handling fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and hose reels through hands-on training.
Enhance participants’ ability to respond calmly and effectively during fire emergencies, including evacuation and communication procedures.
Strengthen emergency preparedness through participation in fire drills and understanding individual roles and responsibilities during fire incidents.
