DriviThis 1-day Basic Safety Training for Reach Truck Operators is designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and practical skills for the safe handling and operation of reach trucks in warehouse and industrial environments. The programme focuses on building awareness of workplace safety requirements while ensuring operators understand proper operating procedures.
Participants will be guided through key topics including equipment familiarisation, pre-operation inspection, safe driving techniques, load handling, and hazard identification. Emphasis will also be placed on compliance with safety regulations and the importance of defensive operation to prevent accidents and damage.
The training combines classroom learning with practical hands-on sessions and a competency assessment to ensure understanding and application of safe operating practices. Upon completion, participants will be better prepared to operate reach trucks safely, efficiently, and confidently in their workplace.
At the end of the program participants will be able to:
Understand and comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 in relation to reach truck operations.
Identify and explain the main components, control systems, and functions of a reach truck.
Apply stability principles and accurately calculate load centres for safe material handling.
Recognize workplace hazards and operate safely within warehouse and industrial environments.
Demonstrate basic safe driving skills and perform reach truck operations in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner.

This programme is suitable for reach truck operators, warehouse personnel, storekeepers, logistics staff, and maintenance technicians who are involved in material handling activities. It is also highly recommended for new operators who require formal safety training as well as existing operators who need to refresh their knowledge and improve safe handling practices to reduce workplace risks and improve operational efficiency.
This is a 1 or 2-days programme. This course runs from 9:00am – 5:00pm with an hour for lunch and periodic short breaks.
This is an intensive session designed to include as much discussion as possible. Lunch and breaks provide an opportunity for further questioning and discussion with the instructors.
