The Managing Underperformance and Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) – A Practical and IR Compliant Approach training programme is designed to equip participants with practical skills to effectively manage employee poor performance in the workplace. The course focuses on understanding the root causes of underperformance, identifying early performance warning signs, and applying structured performance management strategies that are fair, consistent and compliant with workplace best practices.
This programme also provides practical guidance on the proper implementation of Performance Improvement Plans (PIP). Participants will learn how to design clear performance expectations, set measurable improvement targets, establish reasonable timelines, and conduct constructive performance conversations. Emphasis will be placed on coaching techniques, documentation requirements and communication strategies to ensure the PIP process is transparent, supportive and results-driven.
In addition, the training highlights practical approaches to managing performance risks and maintaining industrial relations compliance. Through case studies, practical examples and scenario-based discussions, participants will gain confidence in handling underperformance situations professionally, from initial performance counselling to final performance decisions, while maintaining workplace productivity and employee engagement.
