Effective Waste Management is the systematic approach of handling waste from its generation to final disposal in a way that minimizes environmental impact, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes sustainability. It involves identifying waste sources, classifying waste types, and implementing proper procedures to reduce, reuse, recycle, recover, and safely dispose of waste. A well-structured waste management system helps organizations control risks, reduce operational costs, and improve overall efficiency.
A key component of effective waste management is the application of the waste hierarchy, prioritizing prevention and reduction at the source before considering treatment or disposal. This includes process optimization, material substitution, segregation at source, and adopting environmentally responsible practices. This course runs from 9:00am – 5:00pm with an hour for lunch and periodic short breaks.
