This 1-day program, “An Overview of ISO 50001 Energy Management System”, is designed for organizations not yet ISO 50001 certified who want practical knowledge on energy management.
Participants will understand the strategic importance of energy management in Malaysia, including cost control, sustainability, and regulatory compliance, and learn how ISO 50001’s structured PDCA approach drives measurable improvements. The course covers energy flow mapping, identification of significant energy uses (SEUs), development of key performance indicators (EnPIs), and practical ways to prioritize energy-saving opportunities using local examples like HVAC and compressed air systems.
Participants will also learn to set objectives, measurable targets, and actionable improvement plans while cultivating leadership and monitoring practices to sustain energy performance. Through interactive exercises, case studies, and experiential learning, participants leave equipped with practical skills to implement immediate and lasting energy efficiency improvements.
Upon completing this programme, participants will be able to:
Understand the purpose, structure, and benefits of ISO 50001
Identify energyuses, consumption patterns, and performance gaps in typical facilities
Apply simple tools to analyze energy data and determine significant energy uses (SEUs)
Develop basic energy objectives, targets, and action plans aligned to ISO 50001 requirements
Lead the implementation of energy-saving measures using the Think–Adapt–Lead (TAL) approach
Reflect systematically on decisions and improvement actions through TAL Reflection Templates
Module 1: ISO Foundations
Module 2: Understanding Energy Use & Flow Mapping
Module 3: Identifying Significant Energy Uses (SEUs) & Indicators
Module 5: Implementing, Monitoring, & Leading the Energy Journey
This course is designed for Staff and managers from organizations without ISO 50001 certification, interested in practical energy management knowledge.
This is a 1-day programme. This course runs from 9:00am – 5:00pm with an hour for lunch and periodic short breaks.
