The FSSC 22000 Version 6 is the most recent update to the globally recognized Food Safety Management System certification scheme. Published in March 2023 by the Foundation FSSC, it introduces enhanced requirements to strengthen food safety, transparency, and sustainability across the supply chain.
This version became mandatory for all certification audits starting 1 April 2024, replacing Version 5.1. Certified organizations are required to transition to Version 6 by 31 March 2025, ensuring that their food safety systems remain compliant with the latest international expectations and industry best practices.
Key changes in Version 6 include updates on food fraud and food defence, stricter requirements for product labelling, warehousing, cross-contamination prevention, and more robust verification of prerequisite programmes. These revisions are designed to build greater confidence in the safety and integrity of food products worldwide.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Understand the structure, requirements, and purpose of FSSC 22000 Version 6 and its relationship with ISO 22000 and related standards.
Interpret and apply the latest changes introduced in Version 6, including new and revised clauses on product labelling, warehousing, cross-contamination control, and prerequisite programme verification.
Develop practical skills in implementing Food Fraud and Food Defence (VACCP/TACCP) requirements to protect the integrity of food supply chains.
Apply risk-based thinking and HACCP principles to strengthen food safety management systems and operational controls.
