The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) 8.0 is a global industry standard that promotes ethical and sustainable practices across supply chains, including areas such as labor, health and safety, environmental responsibility, ethics, and management systems. For hostel management, understanding and aligning with RBA 8.0 is crucial to ensure that living conditions for workers meet international expectations and uphold human rights.
Hostels that house foreign or local workers must comply with RBA’s labor and health & safety codes—ensuring that accommodations are safe, clean, uncrowded, and maintain basic dignity standards. This includes access to clean water, proper ventilation, secure premises, and emergency exits. Non-compliance may result in reputational risk or supplier disqualification in audits from multinational clients who adopt the RBA framework.
By embracing RBA 8.0, hostel operators not only contribute to a safer and more ethical work environment but also strengthen their competitiveness in industries like electronics and manufacturing, where RBA conformance is increasingly becoming a requirement. This understanding enables hostel managers to implement proactive improvements and meet customer expectations for responsible supply chain practices.
At the end of this course, the participants will be able to:
Understand the RBA requirements
Acknowledge the correlation between RBA and other standards and regulatory requirements
Understand and review the gap between current process against the RBA requirements
Develop process and procedure requires for RBA
