Design Thinking and Traditional Problem Solving are key approaches used to tackle challenges in business and design. This article compares their benefits and drawbacks, highlighting keywords such as innovation, empathy, ideation, prototyping, and solution-driven processes.
Traditional Problem Solving focuses on breaking problems into parts, using logic, analysis, and deductive reasoning to reach conclusions. Design Thinking, in contrast, is iterative and user-focused, emphasizing empathy, redefining problems, and exploring innovative solutions through ideation, prototyping, and experimentation. While Traditional Problem Solving is solution-oriented, and Design Thinking is problem-oriented, the two approaches can complement each other. Understanding their strengths allows organizations to adopt a holistic, user-centric approach that drives innovation and effective solutions.
At the end of this program, the learners will be able to:
Shift mindset from problem-focused to solution-focused and develop a design thinking approach.
Strengthen analytical and creative thinking skills to identify core issues, structure problems, and generate effective solutions.
Learn to apply powerful tools and techniques for problem analysis, root cause identification, and idea generation.
Enhance the ability to turn ideas into actionable solutions, processes, or products while overcoming individual and team roadblocks.
Understand cognitive processes behind creativity and self-assess personal design thinking strengths for continuous improvement.
