The Hazard Communication Programme is essential to ensure all employees are aware of the chemical and physical hazards present in their workplace, especially when handling waste materials. Through proper labeling, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and training, employees gain the knowledge needed to identify potential risks and adopt safe handling practices. This awareness helps minimize exposure to harmful substances and promotes compliance with safety regulations.
Waste Handling Safety focuses on the correct methods of collecting, segregating, storing, and disposing of various types of waste, including general, hazardous, and recyclable materials. Employees are trained on the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), proper lifting techniques, and emergency spill response procedures. These practices help reduce injury risks and prevent environmental contamination.
Slips, Trips & Falls Prevention targets one of the most common causes of workplace injuries. This component teaches employees to recognize hazards such as wet floors, uneven surfaces, poor lighting, and cluttered pathways. It also emphasizes proactive housekeeping, appropriate footwear, and signage use to create a safer work environment and reduce accidents.
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Identify types of sharps and hazardous waste in recycling operations.
Apply proper methods for collection, segregation, and disposal of sharp/dangerous materials.
Understand common causes of slips, trips, and falls in a recycling facility.
Implement preventive measures to minimize accidents and maintain a safer work environment.
Comply with company SOPs and relevant safety legislation
